The strategy group "Berlin Futures" brings together a small circle of representatives from politics, science, media and civil society to develop new forward-looking ideas and impulses for Germany's European policy and the future of the European project with the help of innovative, interactive methods of foresight policy planning ("Foresight Studies"). The starting point for the joint deliberations are four future scenarios for global governance and the EU's role therein for the period up to 2050 developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI) for the Horizon 2020 project "TRIGGER-Trends in Global Governance and Europe's Role". The strategy group is chaired by Ambassador Andreas Peschke, Head of the European Department at the German Foreign Office, and Prof Dr Gaby Umbach, European University Institute Florence and IEP Board Member.
