In a nutshell: there are good news, but also reasons to be concerned. As the Commission reports, there is a “lack of a robust track record of investigations of corruption allegations concerning high-level officials and their immediate circle remains a serious concern”. State-sponsored corruption remains one of greatest threats to the Rule of Law in Hungary. The situation across the EU is not aggravating but Poland and Hungary still haven't fixed their rule of law backsliding. The efforts of the Commission to curb democratic breaches are not yet over.
