The year 2024 will most probably become a year of strategic reorientation for the EU - especially considering the European elections in June. With increasing global instability and a new dynamic in EU enlargement policy, the debate on institutional reforms intensified. At the same time, the EU is facing the task of formulating its strategic agendas for the years 2024-2029. Discussions on this during European election campaigns and the political stance of the new EU leadership will be crucial to maintaining this momentum.
Which strategic choices does the EU have to make given the drastically changing, volatile global arena? To what extent should European institutions reposition themselves after the European elections? How can necessary institutional reforms be facilitated - and which discussion formats are best suited for this - even beyond the European elections? The participants discussed these and other topics together with Jim Cloos, Secretary General of the Trans European Policy Studies Association (TEPSA) and former Director General for General and Institutional Policy of the Council of the EU.
The event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Funda Tekin, Director of the IEP.
The event was supported by the European Commission.
