The German snap elections elections in 2025 have brought central issues of European cooperation into focus: migration and asylum, the Schengen area and border controls, the economy and competitiveness as well as the Green Deal. The election will not only shape Germany's course in the EU, but will also influence cooperation in the Weimar Triangle with France and Poland.
While Poland holds the EU Council Presidency and is preparing for presidential elections, France is facing domestic political challenges without a stable majority. This discussion in English looks at the impact of the German election from three perspectives: How was the role of the EU discussed during the election campaign? What expectations do France and Poland have of the new German government? And what are the future prospects for the Weimar Triangle within the EU?
We invite you to join our public discussion to discuss these and other questions under the impression of the election results.
