What makes Ukraine special and why are certain events misinterpreted in Germany? In this episode of the podcast, we talk about the misconceptions about Ukraine in Germany and the progress that has been made in this regard since the war.

High-quality reporting is characterised, among other things, by the presentation of nuances that enable a deeper understanding of events on the ground. In this way, political connections can be established and the complexity of Ukrainian society can be better understood.

  • How should Ukraine be reported on in order to enable German audiences to correctly assess events on the ground?
  • How has the debate on the Russian aggression against Ukraine developed in Germany since 2014?
  • What would be helpful means to curb the disinformation emanating from Russia?

We discuss these and other questions with our guest:

Vassili Golod, journalist, studio manager and ARD correspondent in Kyiv.

Moderator: Nataliya Pryhornytska, political scientist and podcast host.
