EU enlargement brings both challenges and opportunities for candidate countries and the EU. On the one hand, difficulties emerge along the way, particularly with regard to stable democratic structures and the rule of law. On the other hand, the progress made offers lessons learnt and space for improvement not only for accession candidates, but also for the EU.
RESILIO-ACCESS explores two fundamental questions: How resilient is the rule of law in the accession countries? And how can EU enlargement policy contribute to the resilience of the rule of law? It looks for answers by using available expertise and data to support the accession process in this field.
Join the launch of a new interactive tool designed to map the complex landscape of EU enlargement. Developed through ongoing project work and based on the RESILIO-ACCESS model, the tool transforms data into policy insights, offering a fresh lens on one of the EU’s most pressing topic: the rule of law.
