The aim of the forum is to discuss current problems of economic and social development in both countries in an open dialogue and to find joint answers that also take into account the requirements of European integration. It is open to representatives and experts from politics, business, culture, science and civil society in both countries.
Objectivity and party-political balance are among the basic principles of the Forum. Due to the importance of the forum for the bilateral relations, the governments and especially the foreign ministries of both countries promote its work at the highest level.
The German-Portuguese Forum is coordinated and supported by the Instituto Português de Relações Internacionais (IPRI-UNL) and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon and the IEP in Berlin.
