Recent social science research on the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP) assumes that the administrative EU structures involved in the CSDP play a role in shaping the policy field that goes far beyond their formal portfolio of tasks. The book dives deeper into this hypothesis.
Using qualitative methods, it examines whether the suggested processes of socialization and autonomy are also comprehensible concerning the agencies EU Satellite Centre (EUSC) and European Defence Agency (EDA), which have so far been disregarded from the perspective of theory-based CSDP research. The study not only generates insights into the factual role of the EUSC and the EDA in the CSDP governance system but above all contributes to the differentiation and further development of the CSDP-specific theoretical corpus.
The work is part of the series Europäische Schriften, Volume 96.
