Since mid-November, ConnectBY has been supporting eight projects by members of the Belarusian diaspora in Germany and Ukraine. In two workshops, participants learned more about writing project proposals and about digital security.

A new phase of the ConnectBY project started in November. Members of the Belarusian diaspora from Ukraine and Germany were invited to apply with their own project ideas to the call for contribution "Voices of Belarusian diaspora". The ConnectBY team selected eight projects from the fields of politics, culture, science, media, and environment. The participants will be supported until the end of the year both financially and through several workshops and networking opportunities.

Within this framework, two workshops took place on 15 and 22 November. During the first workshop by Zoran Krtinic, participants learned how to prepare and present project proposals in a structured way. In addition, each participant received individual feedback on their application.

The second workshop focused on the important topic of (personal) digital security, especially for Belarusians in exile. Łukasz Król discussed what to look out for when surfing, messaging and assigning passwords.

The participants will write more about their ideas, stories and projects for the ConnectBY final publication. This will be published in January including our internal project scientific results and will be available on the IEP website in English and Belarusian.

About the ConnectBY – Belarusian civil society in diaspora project: After mass demonstrations in Belarus in 2020, numerous civil society actors had to leave the country. Many of them have settled in Germany and Ukraine. ConnectBY supports their networking and their work for a democratic Belarus.
