The Crimea Platform: A new initiative to reintegrate Crimea

The third part of the GURN Methods school revolved around the analysis of video material. In the course of the workshops, the Ukrainian junior researchers got to know several software tools and how interpretative and standardised approaches can be combined.

Poland and Hungary are vetoing a rule of law mechanism in the EU budget. Marek Prawda, EU Commission in Poland, discussed how to solve the blockade, strengthen democracies and defend areas for civil society engagement.

Stephan Mayer, State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, and Daniel Thym, German Foundations for Integration and Migration, discussed the contents of the EU migration package and current lines of conflict between isolation and solidarity.

Despite the significant negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Ukrainian economy, the long-term outlook leaves room for optimism. This is due to national financial aid measures as well as international cooperation with the European Union.

The second part of the GURN Methods School revolved around conducting interviews in the context of qualitative research approaches. In addition to perfect planning, the participants learned about different questioning and evaluation techniques as well as digital tools.
