Capacity Development

The final part of the GURN Methods School 2020 took place on the topic of discourse analysis. The participants examined political discourses and reflected on their role as researchers in the interpretation of results.

The third part of the GURN Methods school revolved around the analysis of video material. In the course of the workshops, the Ukrainian junior researchers got to know several software tools and how interpretative and standardised approaches can be combined.

The second part of the GURN Methods School revolved around conducting interviews in the context of qualitative research approaches. In addition to perfect planning, the participants learned about different questioning and evaluation techniques as well as digital tools.

The IEP funded the research projects of three Ukrainian think tanks. The ideas to study access to universities from occupied territories, the integrity of local elections and a sustainable approach to the Ukrainian economy prevailed.

The first part of the GURN Methods School on applied social research has begun. The workshop series is aimed at Ukrainian think tanks and junior researchers who do less academic research but whose work is mainly in the field of policy analysis.
