Programme "Dialogue Europe of the Otto Wolff-Foundation"
Project Team: Prof. Dr. Mathias Jopp, Dr. Katrin Böttger (both IEP), Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Wessels (University of Cologne)
The programme "Dialogue Europe of the Otto Wolff-Foundation" brings together manifold activities of the IEP in the field of deepening and widening of the European Union. Specific emphasis is on research and academically informed monitoring of the concrete processes of accession and enlargement as well as on fundamental questions of further development of European integration. The following aspects are systematically considered in respective activities: institutional and constitutional questions of the "EU-27", pan-European economic and political developments and problems and the formation of the EU as a global and regional partner and international actor. Thanks to the support of the Otto Wolff-Foundation various activities of the IEP are combined to ensure synergy effects that are fruitful in many ways.
Activities under this programme are related to three key areas of the IEP"s activities:
- Contribution to the research agenda of the IEP in the framework of the project "The relations of the European Union to the eastern neighbours - between neighbourhood and enlargement policy" with a special emphasis on consequences and implications of enlargement for the institutions, the EU budget, policies of the EU, interests and perceptions of the new member states, probable limits and obstacles of enlargement policy and the further relationship of the enlarged EU with the wider Europe, in particular in the context of the European Neighbourhood Policy;
- a series of conferences which reach a wider public (in particular IEP "lunch debates")
- publications (in particular "EU-27 Watch" and edited books in the IEP series "European Studies")
