Second interview of the “Klartext” series with Ukrainian think tanks published

In the context of the project “Platform for Analytics and Intercultural Communication” (PAIC), the second interview of the “Klartext” series with Ukrainian think tanks was published on the subject of visa liberalization in the Ukraine.

The aforementioned interview series aims to increase the presence and public awareness of Ukrainian think tanks, both within the Ukraine and Germany. Additionally, the series engages to convey an image of the overall think tank landscape and general developments within the Ukraine. Particular attention is set on the challenges that Ukrainian think tanks are facing regularly, as well as their role for the implementation of domestic reforms.

In the interview with Iryna Sushko, Director of the organization “Europe Without Barriers”, one of the leading think tanks in the visa-free regime between the European Union and the Ukraine, the following topics are discussed: What role does visa liberalization play in the implementation of reforms? What is the relationship between think tanks and the government in the area of migration and border management and in which areas is support needed? Why has it not yet been possible to introduce a common airspace with the EU and what would be necessary on part of the Ukraine to do so?

The project “Platform for Analytics and Intercultural Communication” (PAIC) is conducted by the Institute for European Politics e.V. (IEP, Berlin), in cooperation with the International Renaissance Foundation (IRF, Kiev), the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation (DIF, Kiev) and the think tank initiative “think twice UA” (Kiev), supported by the German Federal Foreign Office.
