Second Future Workshop as part of the project “Alternative Europe!“

The Institute for European Politics (IEP) and Polis180, together with numerous European research and civil society organisations, are developing a manifesto of visualisations for Europe, as part of the project “Alternative Europe!”.

After the first Future Workshop in the European Academy Otzenhausen (EAO) the program division of European Identity from Polis180 together with IEP and the Berlin State Center for Political Education organised the “Future Lab: feel, discuss, and make Europe” on 12 August.

The Bundestag election is right around the corner. Our opinion concerning Europe is expected to find itself once again in the new government’s program. With this in mind, Polis is developing a manifesto with visions for the future of Europe with numerous European academic research and civil society organisations as part of the “Alternative Europe!” project. The manifesto will be brought to the attention of the political parties as of September 2017.

In three stimulative speeches experts shared their wisdom as regards the themes of Identity, Publicity and Participation with us. Subsequently we developed our visions and guidance regarding the three themes in interactive workshops, and then submited these to a reality check, with the help of a design thinking method.

Further information and a detailed plan of the order of events can be found on the event website.

The Future Workshop was part of the project “Alternative Europe!”, which was initiated by IEP together with the Young European Research Network (JEN) of the European Research Network of Germany (END) and the EAO and will be conducted in cooperation with ECSA-Germany (AEI), the Centre International de Formation Européenne (CIFE), the Young European Federalists (JEF), the project “TruLies”, Polis180, the University of Hamburg and the University of Hildesheim.
