First Review of the European Citizens’ Initiative published
The editors, Carsten Berg and Janice Thomas, published the first review of the European Citizens’ Initiative following two years of practical experiences in the volume ‘An ECI That Works!’. It includes the article ‘The First Public Hearing on an ECI: Unclear Aims and Confusing Debates’ by Julian Plottka of the Institut für Europäische Politik. In this article, he assesses the first public hearing on an ECI in the European Parliament and discusses the concept and aims of the public hearings. Beside these reform issues, the volume includes articles by ECI organizers and representatives of the EU institutions.
The volume: ‘An ECI That works!’ is available on its own website.
