Berlin Policy Hub continues with a visit from Moldovan researchers

This week from 14 to 17 May our Berlin Policy Hub team hosted the third visit of our partners from Eastern European Think Tanks to Berlin, this time with guests from the Moldovan Think Tank “Expert-Grup”. The economic research institute was represented by its Executive Director, Adrian Lupusor, and the program coordinator Sergiu Gaibu. “Expert-Grup” specializes in economic issues and supports the monitoring of the implementation of the Association Agreement between the European Union and Moldova. Besides their “watch-dog” role “Expert-Grup” provides economic and technical expertise to governmental and non-governmental institutions.

The focus of their visit to Berlin was on connecting our fellow researchers from Moldova with German experts who share their specialization in economics and the finance sector. During meetings with the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations (Ost-Ausschuss), the German Institute for Economic Research Berlin (DIW Berlin), its consulting company ECON DIW as well as the Tax Justice Network (TJN) experts from both sides could exchange their ideas and expand their knowledge about economic processes in the respective country. Those meetings were complemented by meetings at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), the Institute for Eastern European Studies of the Free University Berlin and the Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS).

The intensive program of the visit helped to develop research and project ideas that should be   further elaborated throughout the upcoming months and the next visits of “Expert-Grup” to Berlin. We are looking forward to an ongoing successful cooperation with our Moldovan partner institution. Further information about our project partner „Expert-Grup“ is available here.

The Berlin Policy Hub Project is an initiative in the framework of the “Europeanization beyond process” program funded by the Open Society Foundations which aims at connection German and Eastern European Think Tanks. A detailed description of the project can be found here.
